I took my cyclocross bike out this morning for my first ride since getting hit by a car on Saturday. It has been 4 days, and I have a few observations.
- After looking at my helmet again I realized that I did in fact fall on my head too. Which might explain the several waves of nausea I experienced post crash. Magic Mountain kid in black car who hit me, you owe me a new helmet! Don’t make me get my season pass and come hunt you down!
The time that passes, and the more I think about it, the more pissed I get. - I am definitely a bit “gun shy” while riding. I noticed that I was getting much more nervous than usual while riding in traffic.
- My heart rate on a fairly flat loop was considerably higher than usual. I am guessing that this will change.
All of this will pass in time. But I assure you that I will never allow another driver that hits me off the hook. Unless they kill me of course. But in that case my wife has instructions. Have great day, and wear your helmet! For those “rebels” out there, there is no valid argument for not wearing one, unless you are riding on the bike path. And then sometimes the bike path is more treacherous than the streets.
