I am a 40 year old husband, and father to two awesome young kids. I am also a cyclist, who started racing about four years ago. I do a whopping 2-3 crits a year, however I started cyclocross in 2006 and am hooked.
I am not a writer, journalist or anything resembling these things. Hell, I can barely read. So please, don’t expect too much other than bad grammar and spelling errors. I write about my thoughts and/or opinions so please don’t take it too seriously.
I live and ride in the Santa Clarita Valley, where I dodge SUV driving, Starbucks drinking, cell phone to the ear using soccer moms (My lovely wife included) on an almost daily basis. Although if you can avoid getting hit by a car (which is difficult at times), the area offers some exceptional riding, especially if you like to climb.
Thanks for reading.

Hey there, I was just searching google for MTB in Santa Clarita and found your blog. I purchased a Gary Fisher 06 Bitter back in May of 06, but due to just a busy life I never really had a chance to ride it. I live over in Canyon Country, but alot of the places we used to ride have now developed into housing tracts
.
I was wondering if you could recommend any local places as I would like to get into a bit more than just riding around on undeveloped properties
Thanks
Hello,
Attending the city council meeting yesterday (5/26/2009) I noted this item on the agenda. There was one bicycle commuter there to make a statement regarding the problem of using Lyons as the only east/west corridor in this part of the valley. To bad there is not a more organized cycling effort that could make more voices heard at times like these.
PS I would have made a statement but did not see this on the agenda until it was too late since I was attending for another issue. I know I am as guilty as everyone else that has an interest in things like this but maybe that can change.

RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING NO-STOPPING ZONES ALONG THE SOUTH CURB OF LYONS AVENUE AND THE EAST CURB OF BOUQUET CANYON ROAD – Staff is proposing to restripe roadway segments of Lyons Avenue and Bouquet Canyon Road to install an additional third travel lane to increase roadway capacity and improve traffic flow. These improvements require the removal of on-street parking along the south curb of Lyons Avenue and the east curb of Bouquet Canyon Road.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt a resolution to establish approximately 630 feet of no-stopping zone along the south curb of Lyons Avenue between Wiley Canyon Road and Peachland Avenue and establish approximately 1,000 feet of no-stopping zone along the east curb of Bouquet Canyon Road from 500 feet south of Cinema Drive to 500 feet north of Cinema Drive.
